A Niagara University graduate, Chef Giordano has gathered a large following among local foodies following her stints as a chef with such restaurants as Reginalds, Inn by the River and, more recently, Mother’s and the Creekview, where she worked for the past 15 years.
A legacy restaurant location has been acquired by one of the region’s most respected chefs, Mary Ann Giordano.
GiGi's Cucina Povera will feature a lot of Chef Giordano’s family recipes for Sicilian and Italian foods. The menu will be deep with pasta dishes, risotto-based dishes, seafood, and slow cooked meats like short ribs and veal shanks.
Daily specials will be included as will dishes featuring fresh vegetables. One of the house specialties will be a fresh chardoons that comes from Chef Giordano’s family recipe. Chef Giordano calls the cuisine “Sicilian comfort food.”
GiGi's Cucina Povera is a 2,150-square-foot restaurant can seat up to 60 people. Initially, GiGi's Cucina Povera will be open for dinners, beginning at 5 p.m. everyday but Sunday. GiGi’s Cucina Povera will open at 4 p.m. on Sundays and feature family-style meals.
Chef Giordano will also use GiGi’s Cucina Povera as the base for her catering business. Gigi's Cucina Povera can also be booked for special events or meals.
